"Carrera" - short film
An experimental run through an American present amidst a barrage or recurring images, audio bites and soundscapes. Carrera; Spanish for 'race' or 'to run' brings the viewer into a cacophony of Afrofuturist present and current reality.

---------------
In the wake of the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, hundreds of protesters gathered to peacefully demonstrate at the Taste of Chicago on July 9th. 19 protesters were arrested in the largest mass arrest at a protest since the NATO Summit. These 19 were charged with felonies, misdemeanors, and city ordinance violations. They were held overnight and the organizer of the protest was held on $350,000 bond. Undeterred by busted lips and even a broken hip, some of those arrested are pushing forward to fight these charges and their treatment by the police. By fighting this case we hope to be part of the resistance against the CPD & set a precedent that will stop them from beating and detaining protesters. Come out and listen to some music and speakers to help us raise money for our court costs and to continue our fight.

//The Dojo works to inspire social change by fostering and cultivating projects that connect the local community with musicians and artists from not only Chicago but all over the world. We seek to provide and support safe, friendly, and creative spaces to engage with the music & arts scene. As a collective group we each value collaboration, self-expression, and communication. Everyone, including our guests, who enters the spaces has a responsibility to uphold these values.\\
